About Our Tutors: Ed Chen Ed Chen graduated from Columbia College Cum Laude with Departmental Honors in Economics and Political Science and received honors at Johns Hopkins University CTY. He scored a perfect 1600 score on the SAT and a perfect 6 writing score on the GRE. In addition, Mr. Chen scored a perfect 5 on the following Advanced Placement tests: U.S. History, European History, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Physics B, Chemistry, Biology, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and English Literature. He is a National Merit Scholar, National AP Scholar, Presidential Scholar Nominee, Bausch and Lomb Science Award Medalist in Science, Merck Scholar in Physics, National US Academic Decathlon Gold Medalist in Essay Writing, and National US Academic Decathlon Gold Medalist in Economics. Mr. Chen has over four years of tutoring experience in Manhattan both privately and for various tutoring agencies in the city and is a member of the ITA (International Tutoring Association). His experience includes work with gifted children diagnosed with ADHD/ADD. In addition, he has led classes to prepare underprivileged students for high school entrance exams, volunteers his time to mentor and tutor students who otherwise would not benefit from private SAT tutoring and has created education programs for the Brooklyn Museum of Art and Columbia University’s Living and Learning Center. His business experience includes working for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as a Research Associate. He is currently a PhD Candidate at Columbia University.
